The objectives of the reception are to:

  • Reflect on the evidence of the impact of integrated climate and nutrition action in agrifood, water, social protection, and health systems, and consider how it can be best used.
  • Explore opportunities to co-create innovative integrated actions that address climate change and malnutrition through informal discussion.
  • Discuss the decision-making infrastructure to take advantage of joint opportunities for accelerating climate and nutrition action.

Background

The interplay between climate change and nutrition poses significant challenges to global food systems and the overall well-being of our populations. Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom are committed to enhancing food security and nutrition and recognize the importance of addressing the nexus between climate and nutrition. The COP 27 global flagship initiative, the Initiative on Climate Action and Nutrition (I-CAN), is dedicated to advocating and catalyzing integrated actions to address climate change, malnutrition, and sustainable development simultaneously.
