Alongside the wider international system, the Rome-based Agencies (RBAs) have a significant role to play in promoting lasting solutions to malnutrition as part of a wider transformation to sustainable and resilient food systems, including through support to local actors. Better nutrition is one of the pillars of FAO’s Strategic Framework (2022–2031). IFAD is committed to raising ambition on mainstreaming nutrition through its Action Plan (2019–2025). At WFP, nutrition is a cross-cutting priority across all outcomes of its strategic plan for the 2022–2025 period. However, better collaboration is key to driving positive nutrition outcomes for all and more is needed to bring stakeholders together.
For these reasons, a coalition of Member States, working closely with the RBAs and other nutrition stakeholders, came together to organize the inaugural Rome Nutrition Week in 2024. This year, Rome Nutrition Week will take place on 26–30 May, under the overarching theme of "Policy Coherence for Better Nutrition." This 'event of events' will provide a platform for convening and conversation, with the aim of putting nutrition at the heart of everything we do. Around three events will take place each day across the RBAs, showcasing different aspects of nutrition, relevant to this year's theme.
