Food systems are responsible for 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, 80% of deforestation, 70% of freshwater use, and are the single greatest cause of terrestrial biodiversity loss and land degradation. Agroecology provides sustainable solutions to combat issues of soil degradation, climate change, biodiversity loss, food insecurity and malnutrition. During this side event, experiences, best practices and country approaches will be shared which aim to protect nature, preserve the richness of biodiversity and restore degraded land and ecosystems, while producing diversified, nutritious and culturally appropriate foods towards healthy diets.
The Coalition of Action on Healthy Diets from Sustainable Food Systems for Children and All (HDSFS), one of three FSS coalitions to co-organize the side event, hopes to see you there.
